Description
The all-new Nordica Santa Ana 84 is the narrowest of the award winning Santa Ana models, a range known for their smooth and balanced ride. The 84 keeps these traits and matches them with dimensions that suit pistes and easier off piste. The shape ensures versatility with easy turn initiation whatever the snow conditions and good hold right through the turn. A wood core is paired with carbon strips and a Titanal sheet to produce impressive edge grip and dampen vibrations. Cruising blues with lazy turns, or faster carves down choppy reds, even searching away from pistes for fresh snow, the Santa Ana 84 has it all covered. Terrain Type & Ability Level Terrain Type Mainly pistes and, thanks to its shape and construction, it doesn't matter what condition they are in, the Santa Ana 84 will have the same smoothness and balance on groomed trails or chopped-up, skied-out, end of the day runs home. The waist width and the long nose that provide this stability also mean that the 84 will be comfortable on easier off-piste too, so some exploring is on the cards. Skier Type Intermediate and Advanced skiers who want stability and smoothness from a ski made using the best construction techniques and materials. It's as comfortable cruising as it is being pushed hard, so you can relax or test your skills. Medium radius turns are its sweet spot. Overview Shape It's the narrowest of the Santa Ana family at 84mm in the waist and the most piste focused. The tip borrows heavily from the rest of the range with a long nose for a smooth ride in softer/rougher conditions, but the tail differs with the contact points nearer the extremity and squarer shape for better grip through the end of the turn. The 14m radius (158cm) suits a variety of turns and conditions, ideal for a ski that will spend lots of time on piste as well some less technical off piste. Rocker All Mountain Rocker uses a 30/50/20 split of rocker/camber/rocker across the tip, main body and tail of the ski. This gives effortless handling in all conditions as the rocker in the tip aids float and initiation, the camber provides grip and bite on firmer snow, and the tail rocker allows for easy turn release and control in tricky snow. Core The powerful Energy Ti W core uses a full wood core with a Titanal sheet positioned above. The metal dampens vibrations and improves stability, the wood adds energy and response. True Tip Technology extends the core into the tip and lightens the overall weight as well as increasing manoeuvrability. Construction Sidewalls offer the best in energy transmission and edge grip; the new Carbon Chassis reduces weight and increases stability. Key Features Carbon Chassis Nordica's carbon-reinforced chassis weighs about 35% less than traditional glass. Full-length carbon strips not only reduce the chassis weight, they also increase the ski's strength and stability. The result is a stronger, lighter, more stable ski that's also more playful and versatile. True Tip Technology By trimming the amount of heavy ABS plastic in the tip and extending the lightweight wood core into this area, with a taper that further reduces weight, Nordica were able to increase playfulness and manoeuvrability of the ski. At the same they have maintained the classic powerful and stable feel that Enforcers are known for. Terrain Specifc Material By adding the same shaped metal plate inside the different models of skis, the amount of metal increases propotionally going from the wider models to the narrower ones. Through this technology, Nordica are able to design unique constructions better suited for different terrain. The narrower Santa Ana have more power and stability on trail, while the wider constructions are more enjoyable off-piste and on softer snow. This keeps the weight down whist still using metal dampening and provides the right amlout of stability and playfulness. EB tester’s comments: Claire (Milton Keynes) I'd describe myself as a high-intermediate to advanced skier who will ski anywhere and this ticked a lot of my boxes. They are so smooth and easy to ski but still nimble plus hold well on hard snow and they're a perfect construction for a mix of conditions. Just awesome, I love them!
