Description
Old Fashioned 2 Tone Hardy Scented Pinks Plugs (12 Pack) Perfectly formed and one of those reliable favourites that are instantly recognised, garden pinks (Dianthus) are one of the hardest-working plants that you can get. Producing masses of fragrant ruffled flowers, dianthus pinks will bloom reliably all summer - often well into the winter months - filling your garden with vibrant colour and the delicate scent of sweet cloves on warm evenings. Perfect for sunny beds or patio pots and containers, the richly-coloured, raspberry-ripple-patterned blooms are held on sturdy stems above neat cushions of slender, blue-green leaves, making pinks not only a fabulous garden 'doer' but also superb and long-lasting as cut flowers for you to bring in and enjoy indoors. Dianthus are easy-to-grow, evergreen fully-hardy perennials, and we have picked four of the best pinks varieties, 'Gran's Favourite', 'Laced Monarch', 'Baily's Celebration' and 'Doris' to bring you a display of colour and fragrance to brighten your borders year after year. You will receive 12 plug plants of contrasting, old-fashioned, two-tone pinks - 'Laced Monarch' x 2, 'Gran's Favourite' x 6, Baily's Celebration x 2 and Doris x 2. 'Laced Monarch'is a vibrant variety, with charming, old-fashioned laced flowers in shades of cerise pink and deep red. 'Gran's Favourite'is one of the most popular varieties of pink, with semi-double blooms of white petals, heavily laced with reddish-purple. Holder of the presigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, so you can be assured that plants will perform well in your garden. 'Bailey's Favourite'is a multi-tonal variety with strongly scented white flowers laced with pink. Perfect as a cut flower. 'Doris'is another popular favourite and holder of an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Two-tone flowers are pink with a deeper tonal centre. Pinks can be planted out in spring when the soil is warming and can be planted directly into the ground around 38cm (15in) apart, or into a container. When watering, avoid wetting the foliage to reduce the risk of mildew. A light clip after flowering to remove the spent flower heads will keep the plants compact and extend their life - cuttings can be used to propagate new plants.
