GAMe-CHANGING FReeRIDe PeRFORMANCe FOR eXPeRIeNCeD RIDeRSTaking its inspiration from the game-changing Warpig, the 2021 Ride Psychocandy is aimed at experienced riders who are looking for a high-performance freeride board. Built around a compact volume shifted directional shape, it defies traditional snowboard design conventions to deliver a unique board that has you rethinking your whole riding experience. From charging groomers to hitting up backcountry powder stashes, the Physocandy’s unique shape dispatches it all with ease. Key to this game-changing performance is the combination of volume shifted shape and class-leading construction. The short, wide, tapered directional chassis with bi-radial sidecut is perfectly matched to Ride’s powerful and responsive Carbon Array 5 construction. This innovative design and high-end construction deliver a responsive and dynamic snowboard that gives a unique and mind-blowing riding experience, no matter what or where you ride.Rider Style: FreeridersAdvanced to expert freeriders who are looking for a short high-performance board that makes you rethink your whole approach to snowboarding.Shape Overview: Volume Shifted DirectionalThe Psychocandy’s advanced tapered volume shifted directional shape is designed to deliver the perfect balance of on-piste control with off-piste lift and float. The most obvious sign of this is the exaggerated blunt nose shape. This innovative nose design provides effortless lift and float without ever feeling overly weighty or unwieldy. Ride then matched this with a wide central platform under the feet. By adding width rather than length, you still get the same surface area, but you get that surface are in a far more manoeuvrable form, creating a floaty yet nimble board. The extra width also works well with Psychocandy’s aggressive sidecut geometry by reducing toe and heel drag to an absolute minimum. This results in a board that not only works great in the pow but a board you can crank it with on the piste.Profile: Directional RockerThe Psychocandy’s Directional Rocker profile combines an extended rocker at the nose with a shorter less pronounced rocker at the tail. This combination gives excellent lift and float at the front of the board while still allowing the rear to drive out the back of the turn. Between the feet, reverts to a flat profile, giving a more predictable ride while still powering up the sidecut when on edge.ConstructionInternally the Physcocandy utilises Ride’s high-end Carbon Array 5 construction. Heading this up is the women-specific WMN’s Performance core. Constructed from a combination of high strength Aspen and lightweight Paulownia, it provides the perfect balance of strength, power and weight. Sitting on top of this are the Double Impact plates, these cushion the bindings from hard landings as well as adding an extra layer of defence against core compression. Now to deliver the Physicocandy’s game-changing blend of high-performance and freestyle feel the Warpigs structural layers are formed from Ride’s advanced Carbon Infused glass. This advanced material adds 90° Carbon fibres stitched into the glass adding extra pop and response, without adding extra stiffness. These are then further reinforced with the addition of the Carbon Array 5 reinforcing. Carbon Array adds 5 carbon stringers which run through the binding zones and out to the carbon-reinforced contact points at the tail and standard contact points at the nose. This powers-up the contact points, creating a faster and more responsive tip and tail engagement without compromising torsional twist through the centre of the board.BaseHigh-end sintered 4000 Ptex base material that is more durable, harder and faster than extruded.
