These rugs have been hand-knotted in Mashhad. They often have a large, centrally placed medallion of beautiful floral motifs, typical of Persian rugs. The medallion is in shades of red and blue, and the rug is very soft wool. The Maschad rugs are somewhat reminiscent of some Keshan rugs. The hard-wearing Maschad rug is very sturdy and hard-wearing.
