Rose (Rosa) Red Standard (60cm) 1 Bare Root
Description
Rose Red Standard is a reliable and floriferous choice of standard rose, thanks to the enhanced breeding and compact nature. Guaranteed to stand out proudly in the garden or in a container on the patio. Very easy for anyone to grow and look after, they can be pruned to whatever head size you would like. The dense head of foliage is smothered in stunning red blooms throughout the summer. Supplied with a stem length of 60cm. Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole. Stems of climbing roses will require training against a suitable support such as a pergola, fence or wall. Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer begin pruning climbing roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged stems. For the first two years the remaining stems should be trained horizontally on wires. From the third year, the main stems can be reduced to maintain the plant within the available growing space. Side shoots should be reduced to 3 buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
