This versatile jug, crafted in fine bone china, features several of the whimsical motifs from designer Kit Kemp’s creative and illustrative story of The Sailor’s Farewell. Perfect for serving water, juice or milk, the jug has a pale blue linen-look finish, echoing Kit’s original fabric design and features the rust red sails of the sailor’s ship heading towards an enticing house under a palm tree on a faraway desert island as his loved-one in a yellow dress stands on a rock waving him goodbye with a red scarf. Embellished with a deeper blue and skilfully trimmed in hand-applied 22 carat gold by the craftsmen at Wedgwood, this piece is backstamped for authenticity and presented in a signature Wedgwood blue box, making a special gift. Kit Kemp enjoys seeing her love of simple, lyrical folk art realized in fine tableware so much that this, her second collection with Wedgwood, is now used in two of the ten boutique hotels she co-owns in New York and London.
