Inspired by designer Kit Kemps whimsical illustrative story of The Sailors Farewell, this 22.5cm side plate, crafted in fine bone china features the central character of the story. She is the loved-one, standing on a rock in a yellow dress, waving goodbye to her sailor with a red scarf flying in the wind. Inspired by a drawing, Kit originally created the design for a fabric and the pale blue background echoes this, skilfully embellished with a deeper blue and a hand-applied 22 carat gold trim. The plate is backstamped for authenticity and beautifully presented in a Wedgwood signature blue gift box.
