Description
Sedum Purple Emperor is a hardy perennial that great for planting in hot, sunny borders and exotic planting schemes. This succulent has burgundy-black foliage that can add a touch of drama in any garden. In late summer this sedum produces wide panicles of ruby-red flowers that continue well into autumn. This variety is loved by butterflies and provides a useful source of late season nectar for pollinating insects. Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only. Grow sedum in a sunny position in fertile, well drained, non acidic soil that has been enriched with well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing sedum, water regularly during particularly hot dry periods until the plants are fully established. Cut back the old stems and foliage of spreading stonecrop plants after flowering to maintain their shape. Sedum is drought tolerant once fully established. Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten.
