The Specialized Airnet MIPS Road Cycling Helmet is the latest version of the Specialized Airnet. It now includes the MIPS system which sits inside the helmet provides protection against "rotational violence" caused by angled impacts. Traditionally cycling helmets have been designed for head on collisions. MIPS deals with side impacts by allowing the helmet to move slightly, absorbing some of the impact and reducing the shock to your brain. Where most modern helmets are designed in wind tunnels the Airnet was designed to look good as well. Loosely based upon the leather “hairnets” that cyclists used to wear before modern helmets came along the Airnet takes a clean and simple classic style an incorporated it into a helmet packed with modern tech.
