Description
Stachyurus Praecox has arching branches giving it a rounded habit when grown as a free-standing specimen, with pendants of tiny bell-shaped flowers that dangle from naked bronze-coloured stems, that provide valuable nectar for early pollinating insects. This variety can also be trained to grow across wires to make a majestic wall shrub. This shrub is hardy and easy to grow but does require a non-alkaline soil. Height and spread: 3m (10”). Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only. Stachyurus requires a moist, fertile, non-alkaline soil. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade with shelter from cold winds. Once established, Stachyurus requires little maintenance. Prune stems back by a third after flowering in late spring, to maintain a neat, tidy shape.
