T & Beauté by Ladurée Eugénie Scented Candle 240g
Description
Ladurée's Eugénie Scented Candle releases a scent fit for an Empress. We assume Ladurée was inspired by Eugénie de Montijo, the last Empress of the French, who in turn inspired the Latin name of the white-headed fruit dove (Ptilinopus eugeniae). Such a bird would go crazy for this berry and fruit laced candle. The fragrance fills the room with strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, cherry and brambles, and it's our favourite to light for afternoon tea, especially if pairing with Ladurée's Eugénie Tea and slice of cake layered with red fruits. It comes packaged in a stylish cream box emblazoned with a suitably regal floral pattern and the candle will burn for 55 hours. In 1862, Louis Ernest Ladurée opened a bakery at 16 Rue Royale, just on the edge of the Madeleine district of Paris. The surrounding area increasingly became the place to see and be seen, attracting a who's who of French luxury brands and a flock of Parisian high society. The café scene began to burgeon becoming more and more lavish, which gave Louis' wife Jeanne Souchard the idea to merge the Parisian café and pastry shop to form one of the city's first tea rooms. The brand is now synonymous with macarons (invented by Louis' grandson Pierre Desfontaines), innovative scents and flavours, and the most indulgent tea experiences. Inextricably linked to the history of tea and beautiful shared moments, the company was inspired to launch T by Ladurée, dedicated to transforming the humble cuppa into an haute couture event, and Beauté by Ladurée for those fashionable finishing flourishes.
