'The Football Match' is a unique silk pocket square using the rugby football painting 'The Football Match' by Australian modernist artist Roy de Maistre. It has been created in collaboration with the painting’s owner, the Janet Holmes à Court Collection, & de Maistre's Estate. De Maistre's original oil on canvas work from 1938 was based on his interpretation of Cubism and was later submitted for the 1948 London Olympics. Printed in Macclesfield England, the artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed & reverse sides of the silk pocket square to work with any fold. The image is framed by the blue grey border and blue hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem. It is a full-size pocket square (42 x 42cm). 'The Football Match' comes tissue-wrapped in an Otway & Orford box. High-quality 100% Mulberry silk is woven into 15oz silk twill to give the characteristic sheen and cool touch as well as to ensure that the pocket square sits nicely in the top pocket. Silk should always be dry cleaned. Avoid pressing the hand-sewn hem to preserve its distinctive 'shoestring' shape. Made in England.
