Although the wild form of the vegetable Chicory, it produces show-stopping electric blue blooms – hence the name! With many thin, airy stems, this hardy perennial is sure to make an impact in your beds and borders throughout the summer months – but be sure to look out for them in the morning as the flowers often close by midday!Sowing Time: March to May. Sow thinly, 3mm (1/8in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods.Can also be sown direct into the soil during August to September for early summer flowering next year.When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 30cm (12in) apart. For best results, provide a fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
