Description
Foxglove lanata 'Cafe Creme' boasts stunning coffee-coloured blooms with a soft, fuzzy appearance, which is why it is also known as the ‘Woolly Foxglove.’ This hardy biennial produces its unusual upright flower spikes with multiple blooms. Blooms attract bees and other pollinators, making this a great option for wildlife gardens.Sow Foxglove seeds from January to May on the surface of a good seed compost, and cover with a light sprinkling of compost of vermiculite. Place in a propagator at a temperature of 18-25C (64-77F) or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 14-30 days. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged and do not exclude light this helps germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow on in cooler conditions. When Digitalis plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting outdoors. Alternatively, over winter Foxglove plants in a cold frame and plant out the following spring after all risk of frost has passed. Plant Foxgloves at a distance of 45cm (18") apart in sun or dappled shade in any well drained soil. Although foxgloves prefer a fertile, moist soil, they will happily tolerate almost any soil except those that are excessively dry or waterlogged.Product specifications:Position: Sun or Semi Shade or Dappled ShadeHeight: Up to 60cm when fully establishedSpread: Up to 30cm when fully establishedSupplied as 1x Foxglove lanata 'Cafe Creme' Digitalis seed packet (approx. 100 seeds)Flowering period – June to AugustImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
