Description
Create a beautiful and wildlife-friendly hedge with this popular native hedging choice. Hazel, also known as Cobnut, produces a fresh, dense covering of lush green foliage every year, forming the perfect screen for your boundaries as well as effectively filtering noise pollution from nearby roads. This low maintenance hedge is unfussy and easy to grow, thriving in most locations without any trouble at all. It’s also highly versatile and happy to be hard pruned to any shape or size, then maintained to shape with annual clipping. This simple but effective variety boasts the added bonus of edible hazelnuts once established, plus a lovely show of autumn colour. Supplied as 60 - 90 cm bareroots (24 - 35"). Planting distance: 30cm (12") or 4 plants per metre for a single line hedge. Prior to planting Hazelnut trees, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Cobnut trees at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil. Nut trees do not suffer weed competition well, so keep weeds and grass clear from the of base of the hedge. Water young plants during particularly dry periods until fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the hedge. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade Height: Up to 8m when fully established Spread: Up to 8m when fully established Supplied as 1x Hazel (Cobnut) Hedging Bare Root Plants.
