A beautifully crisp and narrow variety of pale green lettuce, which will be perfect for mixed salads, side salads and sandwiches! You will not have to worry about protecting this long lasting crop, as it is capable of withstanding all weather conditions, constantly producing a large amount of nutritious leaves from early spring to early autumn! Lettuce Skilton is easy to grow and provides lots of fresh flavour to your meals!Direct sow lettuce seeds outdoors from March to July into well prepared, fertile, moist soil in sun or semi shade. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm (1/2”) in drills 30cm (12") apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 30cm (12") apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects.
