This classic deciduous magnolia features a slow-growing, compact habit that makes it ideal for smaller gardens. In early spring, the silky buds of Star Magnolia unfurl to reveal stunning, pristine-white blooms. As spring progresses, Magnolia stellata becomes adorned with a dense layer of attractive mid-green leaves. Supplied as 1 x 10 litre Potted Plant.Growing Information: Plant magnolias in a sunny or semi-shaded spot with protection from cold winds and harsh spring frosts. They thrive in rich, moist, well-drained soil that is acidic to neutral. Improve the soil before planting by incorporating plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. Magnolias establish more quickly when their roots are shaded. After planting, apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure, or garden compost, avoiding mounding it around the plant’s stem. For magnolia in patio containers, use a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3.
