Description
A stunning colour mixture of Ipomoea, ‘Hazelwood Blues’ brings together some of the most attractive shades of blue available. Beautiful trumpet-shaped flowers bloom in shades from sky-blue to purple, complemented by ornamental star markings. This is a vigorous and robust annual climber, twining quickly to climb to 2.4m. Ideal for covering fences, trellis or ornamental garden arches with colour, ‘Hazelwood Blues’ also looks spectacular planted in a large container , where it will happily climb a small obelisk to create a pretty patio feature.Sow March to April. Soak seeds overnight in tepid water before sowing. Sow seeds 6mm (1/8in) deep in pots or trays of soil-based potting mix and cover seeds with a layer of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container in a polythene bag and put in a warm place and keep at a temperature between 20-25C (68-77F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 7-30 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays of soil-based potting mix. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after r all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart. For best results, provide a light, well-drained soil in full sun.Product specifications:Position: Full SunHeight: Up to 240cm when fully establishedSpread: Up to 30cm when fully establishedSupplied as 1x Morning Glory 'Hazelwood Blues' seed packet (approx. 35 seeds)Flowering period – July to SeptemberImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
