Grow your own crops of delicious, soft, mild-tasting spinach leaves! 'Mikado' is a unique Oriental spinach, with an upright habit, producing large, dark green, pointed leaves, multiple side shoots and long stems with pink-tinged bases. Awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit, Spinach ‘Mikado’ has good downy mildew resistance and is ideal for summer sowings due to its superb bolt resistance. Pick the leaves fresh as you need them – delicious chopped in stir fries, added to salads or steamed. Height and spread: 20cm.Sow seeds March to August, every 3 or 4 weeks. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (1/2") deep in broad drills 30cm (12in) apart. Sow regularly every 3 or 4 weeks for continuous supply of fresh leaves and tender stems.
