Low-maintenance Aloe plants are most commonly found on a sunny windowsill in the UK, but this new variety makes a fabulous patio specimen plant. The spikey, dark green foliage of this hardy perennial forms a rounded, evergreen clump, providing year-round interest. 'Safari Sunrise' produces pointed, bicolour flower spikes of orange-pink and cream, that look like glowing candles. This is a free flowering succulent and a reblooming variety, so the flowers just keep coming all summer! Although hardy, this amazing Aloe is best moved to a sheltered, dry and frost-free position with a minimum temperature of 2C (35F) for overwintering, in order to prevent damage from cold, wet weather. Alternatively, grow it in the conservatory or a cold greenhouse, all year. Height and spread: 9cm (36in).
