The 2020 Trek Checkpoint SL 5 is a carbon gravel bike made for epic all-road adventures. It's built with a full Shimano 105 drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, but the defining feature of this model is the light-weight OCLV Carbon frame with IsoSpeed, a decoupler at the top tube/seat tube junction that provides additional compliance over rough terrain so you can stay stronger for longer. Geometry for the Checkpoint is comfortable for the long haul and rough roads, but aggressive enough to provide the speed and ride-feel gravel riders are looking for. With a slightly taller stack and lower bottom bracket when compared to a CX bike, the Trek Checkpoint delivers improved stability while maintaining fast and manoeuverable characteristics. Control Freak internal cable routing allows for easy conversion to 1x or electronic shifting and keeps everything protected from the inevitable mud-and-dirt. Complete with a carbon seatmast cap, Carbon Armour for additional protection against debris, and 12mm front and rear thru-axles. Stranglehold dropouts allow the rider to adjust the bike's geometry and gearing based on the requirements of the ride ahead. The longest setting makes the bike more stable for longer rides and bikepacking. The dropouts also allow for quick & easy conversion to singlespeed. Stock 35mm tyres hit the sweet-spot for a wide range of terrain, but the Checkpoint can accept up to 45mm, allowing you to tackle rut-ridden roads with confidence. Alternatively a move down to 28mm slicks transforms the ride to a firm, fast-rolling ride for gravel to tarmac routes. The Trek Checkpoint is covered in mounts, on the seat-tube and down-tube allow riders to fit three bottles in the main triangle, or position two bottles low while leaving room for a frame bag. There's also room for one more bottle under the down-tube. Lowrider fork mounts will take a rack & bags. Rear rack mounts give more room for cargo, and hidden fender mounts keep the ride clean in even the worst weather. The Trek Checkpoint SL also comes with a top-tube mount to easily attach an easy-to-each bag for ride essentials.
