Verpan Fun 11DM
Description
Iridescent designer pendant Fun 11DM made of mother-of-pearl chains Created in 1964 by the Danish designer Verner Panton, the Fun 11DM pendant lamp has lost none of its charm to this day. In the middle of the 20th century Panton made a name for himself as a furniture and lamp designer. He became famous above all for his unusual creations, which all bear Panton's unmistakable signature. One of his first designs was the lamp series Fun. Inspired by the fascinating properties of the biominerals mother-of-pearl, the then 38-year-old created a lighting object that plays with transparency and shimmering reflections. Dozens of chains made of mother-of-pearl plates are attached to five shiny chrome-plated, concentric metal rings, which are connected to each other with stainless steel rings and are thus movable. Not only the translucency, but also the typical iridescent surface structure of mother-of-pearl is used by this pendant lamp to create an incomparable shining effect. Rightly this lamp is also called "Mother of Pearls". With a diameter of 70 cm, the Fun 11DM is a lighting object that is preferably placed in reception halls, banqueting halls or foyers to fill the surroundings with its luxurious flair - whether as a solitaire or in combination with other lights from this series. The 400 cm long, textile-sheathed supply cable even allows installation in rooms with very high ceilings. If a draft of air brushes against the sea of mother-of-pearl chains, a gentle sound similar to that of a wind chime can be heard. If the pendant lamp is fitted with a conventional light bulb, even the heat generated by the bulb is able to cause the shell chains to vibrate slightly and create the harmonious sound.
