Description
Perhaps William Morris’ most recognisable design, Strawberry Thief, draws inspiration from the thrushes that would sneak beneath the strawberry nets in his Kelmscott Manor garden. The original pattern took several days to print using hand-carved woodblocks to build up the different colours. Designed in 1883, this pattern has been translated and digitally printed onto sumptuous velvet. This design is also available on cotton in a variety of colour combinations, further enriching its versatility and timeless appeal. William Morris was a well-known poet, writer, artist, and activist who held the view that art ought to be created by and for the people. He embraced nature as the source of all inspiration and placed a high priority on usefulness, simplicity, and beauty. His textile and wallpaper creations are still highly regarded worldwide, making him a trailblazer of the Arts & Crafts movement. William Morris At Home honours and keeps his values of producing well-made, long-lasting, and aesthetically pleasing goods.
