Silver and gold vermeil jewellery will naturally tarnish and oxidise with time and wear. Storing your jewellery in a sealed plastic bag will keep out the air that causes oxidation. Gold plating is a surface layer and will wear over time. Earrings and necklaces tend to get less wear than rings.
