In addition to its particular earthen architecture, the Paquime culture is characterized by its pottery painted in black and red on a cream-colored background, decorated with geometric motifs such as broken lines, spirals, and the step-like pattern common to all of Mesoamerica, combined with representations of animals such as snakes and birds, which, when brought together, make up a fractal set of shapes that seem to move on the ceramics.
