Description
The WTB KOM Tough i40 rim features a super-durable alloy construction to ensure it can take everything the mountain throws at it, while also staying lightweight to keep climbing easy. The durability is further enhanced by the I-Beam construction, while the dual support beams increase the stiffness for consistent, reliable handling. Plus, the 4D angled spoke drilling disperses tension evenly to allow for a greater lateral load. Additional Features: Dual I-Beam construction increases strength and stiffness Extruded from AL 6069 for durability and reasonable weight Updated spoke bed provides a more congruent interface between nipple and rim TCS 2.0 rims deliver WTB's easiest to mount and most reliable tubeless system WTB Solid Strip is included with rim and provides a smooth surface between tyre and rim. It also prevents a broken spoke from puncturing the tubeless system and losing air TCS tape is also required for tubeless set-up (sold separately) Technologies: Universal Standard Tubeless (UST) Ready: The UST concept improves traction, control and comfort while reducing inertia and flats. TCS 2.0 Technology: This refined version of the “Tubeless Compatible System” offers the same high performance, lightweight mountain bike rim structure, but is now easier to install and more dependable. Dual I-Beam Support: Two vertical supports within the inner cavity drastically increase the strength and lateral stiffness of our KOM Tough rims. These additional reinforcements counteract spoke loads, which improves stiffness and minimizes deflection in rocky, unpredictable terrain. 4D Angled Spoke Holes: Drilling spoke holes at an angle eliminates binding and lateral loading of the spoke and nipple interface. It also allows spoke tension to be more evenly dispersed on the nipple rather than loading one side more than the other. Allowing the spoke to depart the rim at a natural angle increases the long-term durability of both the spoke and nipple.
