Yes's Uninc collection is a homage to yes founders Romain DeMarchi, DCP and JP Solberg's legendary years at the helm of the iconic Uninc range. They've each chosen a board from the current Yes collection and have tailored it to exactly how they want it, with their own choice of graphic and spec. DCP's choice is his take on Yes's iconic Hybrid. The Hybrid is a relatively new model in the collection, having been added to the range a few years ago. Aimed at freeriders looking for a board that combines powder board levels of lift and float with the on-piste control and response of an all-mountain charger, this stunning board quickly became a firm favourite. By combining the high volume nose of Yes's game-changing powder focused 420 with the advanced Tapered Underbite sidecut of the Pick your line, the Hybrid delivers a stunning surf-inspired feel that is just a joy to ride. In this version, DCP has tweaked the construction a little compared to the standard Hybrid. By adding a complex blend of 45° Innegra and 90° carbon fibre into the tail, DCP has stepped up response out the back of the board without compromising that surf-inspired ride, resulting in a genuinely stunning board that's going to deliver a mind-blowing ride both on the piste and in the pow. By adding a shorter, fuller nose profile that swaps length for volume, the Hybrid delivers almost powder board float levels in the pow. The fact that it does this without being overly long and unwieldy adds to the board's unique surfy ride. Now, the secret to the Hybrid and what elevates it above being just another surfy snowboard is the addition of the stunning Tapered UnderBite edge profile. This unique technology divides the sidecut profile into three distinct parts. By stepping in the sidecut by 2mm at two different points along the edge, Yes's engineers create 3 different radius's along the length of the edge. This innovative profile offsets the inherent flaws of tapered sidecuts where the arc of a standard sidecut is condensed as the board gets narrower along its length. This arc reduction stifles drive through the tail of the board, compromising the boards carving performance. Tapered Underbite creates a corrective hook to the taper by increasing the sidecut depth as you move towards the tail. This delivers the directional drive and float you'd expect from a tapered board but holds an edge and rockets out of turns like nothing else.ProfileThe Uninc Hybrid utilises an exclusive 1-4-1 version of YeS's versatile CamRock profile. With the addition of the high volume nose, the designers can reduce the rocker in the nose allowing the contact points to engage earlier for a more responsive feel without compromising lift and float. This low rocker lift then blends into a powerful camber which, working in harmony with the short tail and low profile tail rocker, powers up the back of the board and drives it through the turn.ConstructionAs you would expect for such a high-performance board, the Uninc Hybrids construction utilises some of the most advanced technology available. Heading this up is the state of the art wood core. Combining durable poplar with lightweight paulownia and bamboo stringers running through the centre, the Uninc Hybrid delivers a powerful and responsive flex through the length while cutting weight to the absolute minimum. To this, Yes, then add structural layers formed from a torsionally stiff tri-ax weave glass fibre. This beefs up the torsional flex and ensures that no matter how hard or how fast you ride, you just know that the Hybrid won't let you down. Now to add an extra bit of power out the back end of the board, Yes stiffen up the tail with XPIC 202 in TailXPIC 202. This advanced material is formed from a combination of Innegra strands running at 45° to one another, intersected at 90° with carbon fibres. This tri-ax composite increases torsional rigidity at the tail whilst adding pop and dampening to the tail.BaseAs the Hybrid is all about performance, Yes, step up the base to a True Sintered material.
