Description
Acer Palmatum Sango-kaku adds stunning autumn leaf colour to the garden, as well as a please rounded shape and structure, which looks fabulous all year round. In the spring, it will produce green, red-tinged leaves, from fabulous coral-red branches which give the plant even more interest. In summer they turn green, then yellow as it moves into autumn. This Acer is a winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Sango-kaku can be grown in moist, well-drained soil. The foliage colour is best in part shade, but can tolerate a full sun position. When young, the Acer is vulnerable to leaf-scorch from winter frosts or cold spring winds, so best to protect with garden fleece until well established.
