Acer Palmatum ‘Seriyu’ is an RHS award winning hardy tree, enriched with rustic autumn coloured foliage, where the feather like lobed leaves adjust from shades of sweet green to copper orange, deep red and faded yellow in the autumn season. This charming deciduous Japanese maple would make a fantastic statement piece in any Japanese garden, large container or rockery. ‘Seiryu’ is a low maintenance reliable medium sized Acer Palmatum with a columnar habit, where it’s required home should be in a sheltered position, to protect from strong winds and direct sunlight. Grow acer trees in any moist, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or dapple shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves. Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape (pruning group 1). Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
