Description
Berberis thumbergii Chiquitta is a wonderfully colourful addition to your garden. The leaves of this plant appear as pink, darkening to a burgundy colour, with yellow gold edges. The plant forms as a neat, bushy, columnar type appearance with tiny yellow flowers that appear in late spring, which are great for attracting pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies. They then turn into tiny little scarlet coloured fruits, which are perfect for the birds. Berberis like to be planted in moist, well-drained soil, preferably in full sun, but can tolerate semi shade. Barberis are tough little plants, and will tolerate most types of soil, but don’t like to get their feet wet (water-logged!).
