Cervelo R5 CX Disc Cyclocross Frameset 2023 As the name suggests, Cervelo’s R5 CX Disc Cyclocross Frameset is very much based on the hugely successful road-going R5 model, but with a few key tweaks that have already earned it many a podium. The electronic-groupset-only frame retains the R5’s focus on low weight and ride quality, with an 11mm high bottom bracket, lower stack height, longer chainstays and a slightly slacker head tube angle. Clearance has been increased to allow for 33mm cyclocross tyres with 10mm of room around the tyre so that it will never get clogged up with mud. This also gives the potential to add larger, non-UCI-compliant sized rubber for more versatility when not racing. Mechanics and pit crew everywhere will love the threaded T47 bottom bracket that should be able to withstand repeated filthy winter conditions and repeated cleaning. The D-shaped carbon seatpost adds further compliance and has the advantage over round posts in that it can’t be knocked out of line in the event of a crash. There is also a double seatpost clamp that is designed to prevent the post from slipping down at all after repeated running re-mounts.
