Usually grown for its vivid red winter colour on bare stems, Thompson & Morgan Cornus ‘Aurea’ is an easy to grow shrub that fills a gap in the border quickly. Cream summer blooms are set against glowing golden-yellow foliage, but it is the red winter stems that really steal the show! Choose a position in partial or full shade when growing Thompson & Morgan Dogwood ‘Aurea’ and plant in any moist, well-drained garden soil. Cornus can also tolerate damp soils or an exposed position. Thompson & Morgan Cornus ‘Aurea’ will require regular pollarding in early spring in order to encourage plenty of colourful stems. Cut back all stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a low, permanent framework. After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or other organic matter. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
