This listing is for a single, wheel-thrown & hand-carved ceramic mug in subtly speckled white glaze. Made from high-fired stoneware clay, these are hardwearing & suitable for dishwashers & microwaves. Size & capacity - approx 300ml, 8cm height, 9cm width (excluding handle) Each piece is handmade & hand-glazed so there may be slight variations in size & may be minor imperfections compared to factory-made ceramics, I think this adds to the character of handmade pottery! Shipping time - all items are ready to ship & will be posted by Royal Mail 2nd Class, however for faster shipping you can upgrade at checkout to Royal Mail 1st Class (next working day). Please message me if you have any questions about the item(s) How my ceramics are made - All my ceramics are individually handmade by myself in my tiny garage studio in Hertfordshire, UK. I make small batches of around 25 pieces which, start to finish, take around 1 month - each item is first individually hand sculpted or thrown on the wheel before being left to partially dry over 1-3 days, hand finished/trimmed & handles attached if necessary. At this stage, any leftover clay or pieces that don't make the cut are set aside to be recycled & the clay used again at a later date. The first firing is done when pieces are fully dry & takes 13 hours at 950oC. Once the kiln has cooled enough to open (after around 24 hours from the finish time) each piece can be individually glazed either by dipping or painting on glaze. Once fully dry, the second & final firing can take place at 1260oC which takes around 8 hours. It's a long process to complete a whole batch but it's well worth it!
