Sizes- 35cm to hold one 12 record 66cm to hold two 12 records 100cm to hold three 12 records 20cm to hold one 7 record A little about our wood types; Oak - A classic for a reason, oak is robust, tactile & reassuringly heavy. Colours range from honey or amber to milky coffee. Oak grain is usually pronounced & surfaces which are perpendicular to the tree's growth rings show attractive, irridescent streaks called rays. Sapele - There are many woods that are called mahogany, the type we use is Sapele, dark-toned with an earthy reddish hue & a great choice to add a touch of warmth to neutral interiors or to compliment richer colours in your home. Very solid structurally, the grain can be tight, swirly or with ribbon-like columns reflecting light in opposing directions, a result of grain direction reversing every few years as the tree grows. Wood is a natural product & every piece from any maker will be different in grain pattern & colour, which can also look very different depending on light conditions. It moves & changes shape in sometimes unpredictable ways with humidity & the seasons as it takes on & releases moisture. This can happen when shipping or transporting to an area with a different humidity or even in a single location where humidity or heat change often - shower rooms or beside a radiator are common examples. The result is usually minor & good furniture makers will design a piece with this in mind to avoid the worst effects. Lastly, the colour will darken & change with time & UV exposure & your furniture will mellow alongside you & your family. This is just one thing which keeps us working with real wood.
