An intense deep red with blue inner, new & unused pristine piece of classic cased Murano mould blown glass by Carlo Nason dating to the end of the 20th century. This flared tulip shaped vase outer clear then red translucent layer is lined inside with a very thin white opaque layer then a bright deep blue. It gives an unusual effect as the glass appears solid & opaque, only under close scrutiny of the ground top rim can these layers be seen, & at the base where a thicker layer of clear glass shows off the skilfull sommerso technique more clearly. There are no chips or scratches, this is fresh from the factory, old new stock. However, for full disclosure, there is a tiny little nick to the inner rim, so small it could easily be missed. Acid etched stencil to the base : NASON. Original factory box & printed card label. Founded in the thirties by Vincenzo Nason, heir of one of the most ancient families of Murano, the glassworks has established itself in the period of greatest artistic splendor of the island with a brand that became well known in Italy & also abroad. The company, on a surface of six thousand square meters, had about twenty ovens & could also produce 15 different colors daily. It was one of the last furnaces to continue the production of industrial glass, including for example lighting components, bathroom accessories & dental practices. It had always been run by family members. in its moment of maximum expansion, until 2000 the company had about 80 employees & was one of the largest on the island of Murano. in 2004 Nason & C. closed its doors, & was declared bankrupt.
