Green hand carved leaf vase Height 6 1/2 Top width at opening 2 1/4'' + Hand thrown & trimmed on potter's wheel + leaf design carved + Bisque-fired + Glazed with Green to Black + Final high fire in gas kiln I first threw & trimmed this vase on a potter's wheel. After carving my design around the surface & bisque firing, I glazed the piece with Green to Black. This glaze can be temperamental & results in a different effect each time, depending on the application. I love when just the right amount of glaze is applied which breaks as a brassy color at the edges of the carve. it gives the look of verdigris on brass or copper.
