Description
The Geranium ‘Tall Dark & Handsome Mixed Collection is a Half-hardy Perennial with colourful flowers that stand out from the dark green foliage with light green highlights on the leaves. The Geranium pelargonium is a climbing plant and can be trained to climb trellis and other supports to make a wonderful patio feature. This is a great plant for tower pots and to create a pillar of bright vibrant flowers during the summer months, June through to October reaching an impressive 120cm (48in) in height and a spread of 60cm (24in) which is why it is known as Tall Dark & Handsome Geranium. Pot up pelargonium plants and grow them on in warm frost-free conditions. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise geraniums to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days and move them into their final positions in patio containers and borders. Plant geraniums in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any light, well-drained soil. Provide a suitable support such as an obelisk or climbing frame to train the stems onto as they grow. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on. Feed and water geranium plants regularly, particularly during hot, dry periods. As the long stems increase in length, tie them onto a support such as a freestanding climbing frame, using soft twine to train them upwards. Pinch the stems back for a second time. Regular deadheading of geranium flowers will encourage further blooms to be produced throughout the summer.
