Gerbera Sweet Love is perfect for exotic borders and displays with hot colour schemes, or use in swathes throughout mixed colour borders for as a vivid focal point. Pot up gerbera plants and keep them in frost free conditions until they are large enough to plant in borders or containers. Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting in a sheltered, sunny spot in fertile, well-drained soil. Use a loam-based compost like John Innes No.2 when planting in containers. Gerbera are hardy in milder areas of the UK and will survive the winter in a sheltered position with extra protection in particularly cold spells. In colder areas it is advisable to plant in containers and move to a frost free area for the duration of the winter. Water and feed plant regularly during the growing season.
