Hamamelis × intermedia 'Jelena', also known as the Witch Hazel plant, is a fabulous choice for fiery autumn colour and wonderful winter blooms! 'Jelena' is an eye-catching, well branched variety that bursts into life each January with s dazzling display of fragrant, spidery blooms in a rich shade of copper-orange on bare branches. The spreading stems are cloaked in green leaves in summer, forming a perfect backdrop to other flowering plants. In autumn, this hardy shrub steps back into the spotlight as its leaves turn to bright reds and yellows before falling. A superb winter-flowering shrub for woodland gardens and winter borders. Height and spread: 4m (13’). Grow Witch Hazel in borders in non-alkaline, rich fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve its structure and fertility.
