Brighten up your garden with a neat low hedge of Ligustrum sinense ‘Sunshine’. This cheery, easy-to-grow and reliable shrub has a naturally compact size and a good bushy habit which can be easily clipped to the right shape and size for your space. Golden-yellow evergreen foliage brings colour to the garden all through the year. Not only does it form a dense hedge but its attractive rounded habit makes it a good choice for providing year-round structure and contrast in a border or shrubbery. Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution. Ligustrum can be grown as a free-standing shrub or trained as a hedge. Free-standing shrubs will require minimal pruning; simply removed any dead, damaged or diseased growth each spring. Trim hedges in May and again in August. After pruning, mulch plants with 5cm (2”) of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plants. Caution: harmful if eaten.
