Thompson & Morgan Carpinus Betulus (Hornbeam) 9Cm Potted Plant X 2
Description
Perfect for native hedging, the hornbeam is also commonly seen as a large tree. If kept to the size required it will soon form an impressive part of any hedgerow. The leaves will turn a golden yellow colour in autumn and when they fall, they will reveal fluted, grey coloured branches that will continue to look good throughout the winter months. Prior to planting Hornbeam, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil. Water young plants during particularly dry periods until fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the hedge. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Flowers: March to April Height: 12m (39'). Spread: 8m (26'). Planting distance: 45cm (18"). (3 plants per metre for a single line hedge).Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
