Description
This fabulous fruit is one of the best tasting plums you will find. It is plain green in colour and has a rich, sweet flavour. The small fruits are very juicy and are best selected from the tree in mid-August. This may not be the biggest cropper but the quality of the fruit makes it worthy of a place in any orchard.The variety is self-fertile. For a truly heavy crop, grow with another variety of Greengage. If you have room for only one tree, make sure it’s close by so it can act as a suitable pollinator.It can take 2 years to mature but after that time, it will start to produce fruit. The best yields are usually 4 years into maturity.Plant the tree is well-drained soil, in a nice sheltered yet sunny position. Ensure that well-rotted manure or garden compost is mixed into the hole prior to planting. Use a tree stake to support the tree then water well.Plant height and spread is seasonal, therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size.
