Description
With large, rounded, colourful leaves, Hosta’s are particularly hard to miss! Hosta ‘Olive Bailey Langdon’ produces blue-green leaves with thick yellow margins which add texture and colour to even the shadiest corners of the garden. Forming dense clumps of foliage, this hardy perennial is a great choice for ground cover, making a useful and attractive feature for borders and patio containers. Grow Hosta plants in sun or dappled shade, on rich, moist, well-drained soil. Plants can grow well in a sunny border but will need to be kept reliably moist. Plants may perform better on slightly acidic soils. Before planting, work some fresh compost or general fertiliser into the top 20cm of the soil. Alternatively, plant Hosta’s in patio containers in soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3.In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Lift and divide Hosta plants in autumn every third year to maintain their vigour.
