Description
Holly ‘Golden King’ is an outstanding standard holly tree variety that is the ideal choice for the garden, balcony or patio. Create an impressive stately home feel by positioning a pair of these either side of a doorway or arch or use them as an attractive focal point in the garden. These evergreen trees are self-fertile and boast glossy foliage that is edged in a delightful golden yellow shade, adding interest all year round. White flowers are produced in spring and red berries are borne in the winter, providing a welcome food source for birds and attracting them to your garden. An ideal container variety, ‘Golden King’ is very easy to care for and needs just regular watering and an occasional pruning.Use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3 for Holly grown in patio containers. You should repot the tree at its original soil level and be sure to firm it well into its new container. Water well and place in a full sun or semi shaded position. Standard Holly trees can also be planted directly into a border as long as the soil is moist and free-draining. Container grown plants should be fed and watered regularly and re-potted as they grow larger. Prune to shape whilst the plants are still young, pruning in summer by removing any damaged stems and trimming the head into a spherical shape.Position: sun or semi shadeHeight: up to 75cm (29in)Head of foliage: up to 30cm (12in)Supplied as 1 x Holly Golden King in a 17cm Pot with estimated length Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
