From Canadian breeding, Thompson & Morgan Lonicera ‘Myberry Bee’ is one of the most flavoursome varieties available, bearing high yields of large, oval honeyberries. In early summer, prior to fruiting, creamy white flowers with a delicate fragrance adorn the branches. An extremely versatile fruit, honeyberries are deliciously sweet when picked straight from the bush or added to desserts and preserves. High in antioxidants and packed full of vitamins, honeyberries are often branded as a ‘superfruit’, perfect for the health-conscious gardener! Thompson & Morgan Lonicera ‘Myberry Bee’ is self-fertile, however planting in close proximity to another will improve pollination and increase your crop of tasty honeyberries! Choose a position in full sun when growing Thompson & Morgan Lonicera ‘Myberry Bee’ and plant in any moist, well-drained soil. Feed and water young honeyberry plants regularly throughout the growing season until they become established. Harvest honeyberries in June as soon as the fruit becomes ripe. Thompson & Morgan Lonicera ‘Myberry Bee’ will begin to produce a heavy crop from the second or third year after planting. For the first three years, honeyberry plants require very minimal pruning, simply trimming out any dead or misplaced stems. From the fourth year onwards, prune annually after the fruits have been harvested, by reducing stems to a pair of strong buds and cut back a fifth of the oldest stems to ground level, in order to encourage new growth.
