Thompson & Morgan Salix caprea ‘Kilmarnock’ is a deciduous small tree that is ideal as an architectural specimen wherever you plant it, the weeping form is densely covered in foliage all during the summer and into the autumn and can be lightly trimmed to keep it to shape or size should you so wish. Sometimes, also clipped back to be grown as a standard too, this hardy plant is definitely worth a look for adding shape and interest to your outside space. Grow salix in a sunny or partially shaded position, in any well-drained soil. To achieve the most colourful foliage, trim back all side branches by a third during July. You can trim Salix Hakuro-Nishiki plants through the year to keep them tidy, with fresh, variegated growth. Simply prune back branch tips by about 15cm (6”).
