Introduce a tropical twist into your planting schemes with this exotic Canna ‘Tropicanna Black’. With large, dramatic near-black leaves, they steal the show throughout the summer months before producing a fabulous crescendo of contrasting bright red flower towards the end of the season. Cannas look most at home in an exotic-themed border, but also fit in well to a more traditional border. Their impressive height and large leaves coupled with a narrow footing means that you can plant them close to create a bold swathe, as well as fit them in to a narrow space where a screen may be needed. Grow Canna plants in frost free conditions until all risk of frost has passed. In spring, Canna plants can be gradually acclimatised to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting them in borders, beds and containers. Grow Cannas in fertile, moist, well drained soil in a sheltered, sunny position.
