A large antique oak & ash picnic basket that I recently stained a dark walnut, painted, (an antique cream ) clear waxed & finished with a dark brown antiquing wax. When found at a Pennsylvania estate sale, it had at some time been painted a very dark brown. The inside was the natural woven splint ash. A large basket that stands 12 tall, 17 tall with the handles up. I have it pictured with a wine bottle for size comparison. A wine bottle will fit easily when lying down from corner to corner. After washing this basket well & letting it dry in the sun, I stained the inside a dark walnut. I painted the outside & both sides of the lid several coats of antique cream & leaving some of the original dark brown exposed. Then clear wax was applied & finished with a light application of dark antiquing wax. A great decorating piece, a display piece for a number of decors. in the kitchen on top of a cabinet or cupboard. Free Shipping. Measurements: 12 tall, 17 tall with the handles up. The mouth of the basket is 12.5 x 12.5. The lid is 13.5 x 13.5. The unfinished bottom is 11.5 x 11.5. Condition: Expected wear, but very minimal. Recently stained, painted, waxed with a clear wax & then finished with an antiquing dark brown wax. A sturdy basket with unharmed handles.
