Description
The Musa Basjoo Japanese Banana is a delicate perennial palm with large paddle shaped leaves, arching away from the main trunk, which produces masses of yellow flower spikes bearing large brown bracts. As the name implies, the plant produces mini green banana fruits, although not edible, they are an attractive and interesting feature which is bound to create a lot of attention in your garden. Musa Basjoo likes to be planted outdoors in frost-free conditions, in moist, well-drained soil, in direct sun or partial shade. To get the best out of your plant, make sure the rootstock is planted deep below ground, so it is well protected. Ideally grow under glass or a poly-tunnel in loam-based compost.
