Let Galanthus elwesii (Giant Snowdrop) light up your garden from late winter through to mid-spring with its beautiful nodding white flowers. This hardy and naturalising variety will flower without fuss every spring, gradually forming larger and higher impact groups as the years go by. Bearing looks very similar to that of the traditional snowdrop, only with bigger flowers (up to 2.5cm) and taller stems, classic giant snowdrop Galanthus elwesii will provide a gutsy display of blooms very early on in the season whatever the weather and are the perfect way to wake up the garden to spring. Perfect for growing in groups in borders, patio containers, woodland planting schemes, through grass or in rockeries Plant snowdrops in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. Snowdrop bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of snowdrop flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
